Letterkenny
The chief town and ecclesiastical capital of County Donegal is 19km away.
Letterkenny overlooks Lough Swilly, where the River Swilly drains into a
lough. During the month of August, many European Folk Dance teams
come together for the annual Letterkenny Folk Festival. The towns main
street is one of the longest in Ireland and boasts some leading name
shops for the shopping enthusiast. Letterkenny also has many recreational
facilities such as 18 hole golf course, pitch and putt, cinema, go-karting,
tennis, squash, dancing and bowling. Salmon and Trout fishing is also
available at the nearby rivers and lakes. Letterkenny leisure centre has swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and a steam pool with plunge pool. |
Portsalon Beach

Portsalons beautiful, unspoilt, EC blue flag beach is a 20 minute drive from Willow Farmhouse. Portsalon is also a very popular recreational area, with a superb 18 hole golf course. The picture to the left shows the beach at Portsalon.

Rathmullan Beach

Situated midway on the western shore of lough swilly is Rathmullan.
Pleasant walks and drives can be had to Kinnegar Strand, Mill Bay, Lamb's Head Bay and Scraggy Bay in the north, and Cul Bay, Rathmullan woods and Ray Bridge in the south.

Glenveagh National park is located approxiamtley 24km from Willow Farmhouse. The park contains between 14 and 16000 hectares of mountain, bogs, lakes and woods. The park also includes the peaks of the two highest mountains in Donegal, Errigal and Slieve Snacht.
